Butcher Block Cutting Boards

Butcher block cutting boards are now extremely popular for non commercial setting use. Originally started around a hundred years ago for use by professional butchers, the long lasting beauty has created a more general appeal. No longer are they exclusively for commercial use, and they are a popular addition to any one’s kitchen.

Most residential owners love the look of the Monarch butcher block for an island in their home. Before the dovetailed blocks came along those butchers of past would use sycamore rounds to cut the meat on. Since they would split often it would end up being more of a health problem than anything. Now the butchers block is made from small strips of maple that have been laminated and glued under pressure together.

These larger blocks can be used to cut even the biggest pieces of meat such as a commercial butcher might require. Having said that, the smaller chopping boards designed for use in the residential are still as solid, but on a smaller scale.

Butchers blocks are designed to be used for many, many years and the end grain structured blocks are favored by both professional butchers and gourmet chefs because they are less wearing on the knife edges. When a cut is made, the blade can slip between grains and will last longer between sharpening.

Along with the double dovetail that helps keep the wood locked together you can find no other finer butcher block on the market. Though many will try with different materials that will be used. The dovetail will be tapered and when two are joined together it creates a snug fit that will not come apart, and glue is applied just to make sure that it will last even longer.

Creating a fabulous look as a centerpiece to your residential. Use it for storage as well as cutting meat on it. Or simply use it as extra added accessories into your non commercial setting. Coming in many varieties of woods from maple, cherry, red oak, and even blended woods together.

These butcher block tables will make any residential look fabulous. Get a color of table that goes with the wood that is on your countertops. Or perhaps even your trim. Coming in many styles from auction to modern looking even. As you shop around for your own butcher block table don’t forget to compare prices.
